Elementary, middle and/or secondary teacher training with a Masters Degree in Special Education preferred
A minimum of 3 years successful classroom or Learning Support Services teaching.
Ability and willingness to lead and guide district and provincial practices in inclusive education, differentiation and other Learning Support Services philosophies.
Experience developing and implementing Individual Education Plans for students with diverse learning needs
Demonstrated experience in direct instruction of children with development and physical disabilities.
Knowledge of district and community supports required for students with diverse needs
An understanding of Special Education Services;A manual of Policies, Procedures and Guidelines.
Current training in Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) and willingness to become a trainer of teachers in this intervention program.
Understanding and experience in creating and implementing safety plans
Documented competence and training in positive behavioural intervention with complex and/or dual diagnosis students
Training and demonstrated ability in organizing and leading transition PATH workshops.
Exceptional presentation skills necessary to provide professional development workshops to teachers and support staff on professional days and possibly evening workshops.
Ability and willingness to work as part of the District Crisis Response team
A demonstrated ability to be an effective team member at the district, school and community level.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Exemplary problem solving, time management and communication skills necessary
Exemplary knowledge of technology and how it is used to support students with various disabilities
Other duties as required in a district level leadership position
Demonstrated effective written and oral interpersonal skills.
Satisfactory teacher evaluation.
Copies of transcripts of university courses and latest teacher evaluation must accompany the application.
Driver’s license and reliable vehicle required
Eligible for B.C. Certification.
