·                Successful teaching experience in Elementary/Middle preferred

·                Graduate diploma or Master’s Degree in Deaf and Hard of Hearing (Hearing Impairment)

·                Fluent in English or American Sign Language

·                Must possess exceptional presentation skills and be willing to present professional information about Deaf and Hard of Hearing students to classes, school staff and district personnel

·                Effective written and oral communication skills.

·                Demonstrated experience as a highly effective team member

·                Demonstrated knowledge and experience with equipment commonly used for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students (Eg: sound fields, FM Systems, hearing aids, etc)

·                Satisfactory teacher evaluation and/or final practicum report(s).

·                Eligible for B.C. Certification.

General Description/Duties:



·                Assist in designation and case management of students in the ministry category F (Deaf and Hard of Hearing)

·                Facilitate the development of IEP’s for students with Deaf and Hard of Hearing designation

·                Facilitate CARE Team and IEP meetings in collaboration with school staff and parents

·                Assist with IEP goals for students who are deaf or hard of hearing but are designated in other MOE categories

·                Collaborate with classroom teachers, Learning Support teachers, principals and educational assistants in schools to ensure student IEP goals are being met.

·                Provide assessment and reports for the students on your caseload

·                Provide hearing screening for referred students
