Celebrating our Casual Administrative Assistants at the SBO

Our casual support staff play a significant and essential role in student success at the Abbotsford School District. Over 400 individuals work across the district in our schools, departments and offices, stepping up when needed to provide specialized skills, unique support and essential services.

At the School Board Office, we are celebrating four casual administrative assistants who have gone above and beyond over the last few weeks to support our district during the busy back to school season.

Sue Kavelman has been working in the Finance Department, supporting the Accounts Receivables team. Sue is a quick learner! She exudes professionalism and a team-player mentality as she works to support the Finance Department during the busy audit season.

Neesha Randhawa has been working in the Human Resources Department, overseeing teacher benefits. She collaborates with the Finance Department and benefit providers to ensure staff benefits are administered accurately. Neesha brings an enthusiastic yet calm demeanour to the HR department. With her friendly smile, she is always ready to support the team!

Julie Covey works with external clients interested in our Facility Rentals and collaborates with other departments to ensure accuracy in scheduling, bookings, payments, and contract information. Julie’s warm demeanour, professionalism and organizational skills are appreciated by many at the School Board Office!

Velvet Young is the first face many people see if they have stopped by the School Board Office at some point over the last few weeks. She provides reception coverage and supports several departments within the board office, connecting inquiries and managing visitors. Velvet’s friendly face, expertise and organizational skills are only a few of the many reasons we are so thankful to have her filling in on this dynamic position.

Thank you for your commitment to our students and #AbbySchools, Sue, Neesha, Julie and Velvet. We appreciate you!
