We require experienced Cultural Support Workers to work in the district’s Aboriginal education services.  Qualified candidates will be considered for placement on the established casual list to work on an as-needed basis.

 The salary start rate is $23.12 per hour with an additional 8% of straight time pay in lieu of statutory and non-statutory benefits.




Successful applicants will have a minimum of Grade XII supplemented by graduation from a one-year education assistant program (SETA preferred) from a recognized community or technical college.  In addition, the incumbent must have the following:

  • Over one year of experience in working with Aboriginal people in an educational setting
  • Considerable working knowledge of the Aboriginal culture, heritage and value systems (preferably the Stó:lδ Nation)
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with all internal and external contacts; a helpful and pleasant manner in dealing with others
  • Proven ability to express ideas effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Proven ability to work in a cooperative team situation, offering assistance to co-workers as required
  • Ability to provide guidance and direction to others; proven ability to explain information and instructions to others
  • Working knowledge of the district child abuse protocol and reporting procedures
  • Sufficient physical capabilities, stamina and coordination to perform the duties of the position to the required standard
