Summary:

Under the general direction of the School Principal or designate, the Concession Worker prepares, heats and cooks simple food items, serves students at food counters, supervises volunteers and is responsible for cash handling and calculating cost of supplies.

The Concession Worker is also responsible for clearing tables, cleaning and sanitizing kitchen/concession areas, washing dishes, and performing other duties as assigned.

The current salary is $15.26 per hour, 6  hours, 1 day per week from 7:00 am to 1:30 pm at Abbotsford Traditional Senior Secondary School plus a comprehensive benefits package.

General Description/Duties:

Operate basic kitchen equipment such as an oven, stove, dishwasher, slicer, etc.

Maintain kitchen/concession area in a clean and organized manner

Supervise and schedule volunteers

Prepare food/drink products by using proper food handling techniques

Clean/sanitize concession/kitchen thoroughly before end of shift

Cash handling and calculating cost of supplies

Keep items stocked and displayed as required

Order products as required

Perform all other such duties as may be assigned by the Principal or designate



Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Successful completion of Grade 12 education or equivalent

Food Safe Certificate

Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate or ability to obtain

Occupational 1st Aid level 1, or Emergency 1st Aid, or equivalent

6 months recent experience working in a concession or kitchen setting

Proven ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with all internal and external contacts

Ability to use tact and discretion and maintain confidentiality

Proven ability to work under pressure, be self-motivated, organized and efficient

Understanding and awareness of cultural diversity

Proven ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, and provide to services to the public and School District in a professional, respectful, positive and courteous manner
