Mental Wellness in the Workplace

November 5, 2021

Last month was World Mental Health Day, a period aimed at raising awareness of mental health issues and organizing support for mental wellness. This year, the school district will continue to provide training and resources to support our health and well-being including the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction program, workshops on resilience from our benefits provider, and The Working Mind program from the Mental Health Commission of Canada.

Did you know that our Employee and Family Assistance Program doesn't just provide access to professional counselling? It also provides access to expertise on nutrition, family, financial and legal matters, and resources on many challenges we face in our daily lives. Our Employee and Family Assistance Program is a confidential service available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, by calling 1-844-880-9137, visiting workhealthlife.com, or downloading the My EAP app.

Sometimes access to resources isn't enough and we need to have a plan and be intentional about what we need and the actions we will take. All employees have access to the Self-care and Resilience Guide from The Working Mind program on the Employee Toolkit.

We encourage you to check out the resources available to you. Reaching out to others for support is a key part of being resilient. If you have feedback on the programs and resources available, please email myhealth [at] abbyschools.ca. Your input is important!
