ABC Recognition Program: 2024/2025 Nominees & Recipients
We are thrilled to announce the nominees and recipients of the ABC Recognition Program! This program honours individuals who have made significant contributions in various categories. Let's celebrate their achievements and dedication to excellence!

Continuous Improvement & Innovation: Benefits student experience by advancing equity and inclusion; enhancing safety and security; improving procedures, protocols, and systems; reducing environmental footprint; etc.
Recipient: Lukis Kind, Teacher, Rick Hansen Secondary. Luis has significantly impacted the school, students, and the district by advocating for those who struggle to stand up for themselves. As the Pride Alliance ambassador, he founded a Pride Club and introduced the Pride Award, recognizing students' contributions to inclusivity. His efforts have made every student feel safe, seen, and proud of who they are.

Leadership Excellence: Influences change through collaboration, mindfulness, and resiliency. Leads by example, inspires, and motivates others to create an inclusive, safe, and supportive culture and environment.
Recipient: Doug Primrose, Teacher, Yale Secondary. Doug has been an integral part of Yale Secondary for 18 years, serving as a leadership teacher, rugby coach, and athletic director. He has influenced countless students in their athletic, leadership, and personal growth and development. His leadership class organized the annual “Live to Give” event, raising $15,000 for BC Children’s Hospital. Doug's dedication extends beyond the school, serving as president of the Fraser Valley Rugby Association and the BC Student Leadership Association.

Supporting Student Success: Goes above and beyond to help and support students achieve their individual goals. For example, facilitating student agency and voice or increasing academic, emotional, and social independence.
Recipient: Cyndi Orth, ISW, Yale Secondary. Cyndi has counseled and prepared students for post-secondary success, achieving a 100% graduation rate. Cyndi has developed a breakfast program, ensured students have what they need for academics, and taken them on multiple trips to future sites. Her dedication has made Yale the highest receiving school for Indigenous scholarships.

Team Collaboration: Demonstrates a collaborative effort partnership to improve the quality of services, resulting in a better experience and/or improved outcomes for students. Minimum of two individuals per team.
Recipient: Marisa Meola & Katie Savage, EA & YCW, Yale Secondary: Marisa and Katie have led the Feeding Futures program at Yale Secondary, addressing food insecurity among students. Their efforts ensure that all students have access to nutritious meals, fostering an inclusive and supportive school environment. Marisa's voluntary work outside her EA hours and Katie's dedication to the Starfish program have significantly improved the academic performance and well-being of students.
