Celebrating Stephanie Doan

At Abbotsford Senior Secondary School, our Career Aide, Stephanie Doan, has made a difference since 1991. Stephanie advises all of our students in Grades 9 - 12 to help them navigate high school and plan their next steps after high school.  Students appreciate her vast amount of knowledge about post-secondary pathways and her willingness to do whatever it takes to assist students on their journey. Mrs. Doan greets every student who enters the counselling center by name and takes the time to find out how their day is going.

Our daily discussions are threaded with acronyms such as WHMIS, EFAP, NAOSH, NIOSH, CSA, OFAA, PPE, JOSHC, IAQ, WCB and of course OHS (or if you prefer, OH&S). I would argue that this dependence on industry lingo, points to the inherent challenge of articulating how the complex network of health and safety processes, work together as an interconnected system.
